They ask me if I travel a lot, and I say no. At least not as much as I would like to travel. I travel much less than I would like. Why do I want to travel? What is this wanderlust? Not long ago, my daughter learned at school about the causes of immigration, which are divided into push factors, things that are avoided in the country of origin, and pull factors - advantages in the destination country. What drives me to travel? What attracts me to travel? Am I traveling from or traveling to? At the end of the last century, before enlisting in the army, I traveled abroad with a girlfriend, which was not very common at the time. Just her and me, doing France. Surrounding it by trains, without a phone, with a backpack on my back. Why was it so important for us to travel? I don't remember anyone else from our class who traveled before the recruitment. Mostly a feeling that this place is small for us. Not in a condescending way but in a way that we understood that the world is round and open and we need to start checking what's going on out there. Especially since we grew up in Moshav, which is undoubtedly a small place, certainly for us. Perhaps it's no surprise that we both found ourselves living abroad down the road. At the beginning of the millennium I traveled for a longer period to New York, to continue my architecture studies. It was more than a trip, it's a great thrill. It's really living a culture, living the lives of others. delusional. Although it was difficult and lonely, I stayed for more than three years. There can't be so much to see in the world and I'll just stay here in this little spot. It doesn't make sense that I would end my life without seeing at least most of what this world has to show me. Travel excites me. The departure from the routine, the feeling of freedom, the excitement. I enjoy planning the trip in advance, reading about the place, looking for interesting things to do, looking for a special hotel. I think if I had to sum it up in one word I would choose curiosity.
